Overview of Volunteer Services Board
VSB’s mission is to inspire, provide, promote and expand volunteerism at Boise State University for the purpose of developing active community members via direct service and social issues education.
Term of Office: July 9, 2009 - May 9, 2010

Requirements & Time Commitments
- Must attend weekly VSB staff meetings for 2009-2010
- Must be able to maintain regular training office hours
- Must be available for staff selections
- Must work approximately 20-30 hours per week during 2009-2010 (summer included)
- Must participate in summer staff training sessions on campus
- Must participate in mid-year staff assessment sessions
- Must participate in Student Leader Summit in McCall
- Must attend all monthly 2008-2009 Student Union Board of Governors (SUBOG) meetings including April 2009
- Must attend all VSB-sponsored events
- Must participate in all fundraising activities
- Must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.00 scale
- Must be enrolled as a full-fee paying student for entire tenure as Director

Basic Responsibilities
- Provide direction and vision for the VSB
- Select staff with input from SUBOG and the VSB Advisor
- Supervise four issues coordinators, an assistant director, an outreach coordinator, and a graphic designer
- Co-train staff with the VSB Advisor
- Evaluate staff with input from the VSB Advisor
- Maintain the Service Saturday and the VSB Campus Coalition program
- Maintain partnership with BSU Service Learning Program
- Assist VSB coordinators in coordinating their programs
- Administer annual budget of $50,000+, in conjunction with VSB Advisor and SUBOG; and coordinate fundraisers to support VSB programs
- Represent VSB to SUBOG
- Ensure that VSB maintains the standards of a Campus Board
- Co-develop annual goals and objectives for VSB with input from staff
- Prepare VSB’s annual report
- Be an “ambassador” for VSB both on and off-campus
- Conduct weekly staff meetings and vote only in event of a tie
- Meet one-on-one weekly with VSB Advisor and staff
- Act as a coordinator or appoint another staff person for all programs, which lack a coordinator until a permanent coordinator can be found
- Report regularly to ASBSU Student Senate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Application Process
Application Deadline: March 7, 2009

Interview Process
- Upon review of your application, qualified candidates will be contacted to set up an interview.
- Interviews will take place March 2009.
- The interview will last about 30-45 minutes.
- You will be interviewed by the VSB Selection Committee (consisting of 5 or more individuals).
- A decision will be made and you will be contacted by late March via e-mail or phone.

Upon Being Hired (specific dates will be updated and emailed to applicants.)
- The position is scheduled to start on April 2009.
- The new director will be in training through the period of April 2009 maintaining regular training office hours.
- The new director will participate in the selection of staff for 2009-2010 during the period of April .
- The new director is required to attend weekly staff meetings on Thursdays, times will be emailed.
